💫 Fermented and salted black soybeans used as a seasoning in many Chinese dishes.
Salted black beans, or tau-sie, are salted, fermented soya beans. Through the fermentation process, the soybeans turn black and shrink. The taste is strong and salty and therefore it is advisable to use a small amount. Another variant of salted black beans is also seasoned with ginger.
